OK, so you might be asking, who is behind this site?

Glad that you asked.  The people behind Blackpeople.com are the best that Black America has to offer.  We are inner city raised high achievers who have great credentials and remember where we came from.  In fact, most of us live and operate our businesses from inner city, predominantly Black communities (a/k/a 'the hood.')


Ken Granderson
Dr. Kenneth A. Granderson, an MIT alumnus and ethnic technology pioneer, is the Founder, President and Chief System Architect of Blackpeople.com.  With a solid decade of experience in creating desktop and online technologies focusing on the awareness and acceptance of computer and online technology in communities of color and low-income communities, Ken is one of a select few individuals in the industry with his depth of experience.

Ken has been building online communities since 1997 and has launched several ethnic online communities on a local scale.  Blackpeople.com has been on paper since 1996 but it is only now that the US online ethnic community has moved out of its infancy and toward its adolescence that it is truly ready for Blackpeople.com.

Ken has a Bachelor of Sciences degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an Honorary Doctorate in Human Letters from Salem State College for his online community building initiatives.  Ken grew up in the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn, New York and is a resident of the Dorchester section of Boston, Massachusetts.  He is a member of the Kappa Aplha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and sits of the Board of Directors of the Freedom House and the D2D (Doorways to Dreams) Fund, two Roxbury, Massachusetts organizations.
 


Erick Jean
Erick Jean is Blackpeople.com's Executive Vice President.  Mr. Jean received his Bachelor of Science in Economics from Northeastern University and a Juris Doctorate degree from Suffolk University Law School.

Presently, Mr. Jean is a consultant with Northeastern University where he advises on retention issues affecting Black and Latino students.

Mr. Jean is affiliated with the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and the Concerned Black Men of Massachusetts. He is an officer with both organizations. Mr. Jean is also a member of the Board of Directors with the Four Corners Main Street, a non-profit community development corporation.
 


York Eggleston IV
York is Blackpeople.com's Investor Liasion.   York is a new media veteran who sits on the board of several new media and Internet technology companies, and is regarded as a rising technology visionary.

York has developed or co-developed several media and technology businesses over the last ten years, including Crave Technologies, Diva Enterprises, Zenspace, Inc. and Quality of Life Networks, Inc. Prior to founding Crave, York worked for an international consulting firm (Booz-Allen Hamilton), an investment bank (Saloman Brothers), and served as the Senior Investment Officer of a Maryland-based venture firm.

York has an undergraduate degree from Harvard College and a graduate degree with distinction from the Harvard Business School.  York lives in Baltimore, Maryland.
